A BLISTER DAY….:(

calvin-happy1111.gif

Today is a big ole blister day!  Just one of those days, you wished you had stayed in bed, and pulled the covers up over your head lol.  I decide to do laundry this morning….(first mistake)….and when I open the lid after the load had completed, I find soaking wet clothes.   The agitator is not working, so now I have to hand wring everything in that load.  Oh, lordy what a job lol!  Time for a new washer I would say :)

I started a bit of spring cleaning, and washed a window, and change the curtains, and put on a new spring bedspread.  One thing about me when I clean, is I get myself into a bigger mess.  I am not very organized while I clean from room to room lol.  Looks good when I’m done, but I have to climb over things, and just plain get myself all flustered unnecessarily lol.

I look at my plants and they are in dire need of a drink.  I get my watering can and water them all….even the hanging spider plant in the kitchen…(second mistake)..I walk away thinking, okay guys you can live another week now you’ve had your water.  Just about that time that I turned my back, the plant came smashing down, plant hanger and plant.  I just wanted to cry when I saw the mess…I guess the screws in the hanger weren’t long enough.  Now the spider has a new home, I am not chancing hanging it up again.  It is sitting pretty on a high plant stand now.  My family is always telling me that my spider plant is ugly, maybe they sabotaged me . lol

It sure feels good to finally sit!!!!  Tomorrow is another day ….hopefully no BLISTERS. :)   Hope your day has been a good one.

ATTITUDE

This is a printout I have on my desk, so it can be a reminder to me.  It is called, “Attitude” by Chuck Swindol.

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.  Attitude, to me, is more important than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do.  It is more important then appearance, giftedness, or skill.  It will make or break a company….a church….a home.  The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we embrace for that day.  We cannot change our past….we cannot change the fact that people act in a certain way.  We cannot change the inevitable.  The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude….I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.  And so it is with you….we are in charge of our ATTITUDES.”

I must admit I don’t always have this mindset, but I am working on it.  :)

SCAVENGER HUNT

Today hubby and I went to a new thrift shop that just opened up in our area.  I love looking for things that are new with tags or that are in excellent shape.  I love yard sales and flea markets too.  You never know what little treasures you can come home with.   It’s just fun!   Well, yesterday was their grand opening, so I thought maybe it wouldn’t be that crowded today.  I was wrong!! lol  It was very busy and they had clowns and face painting for the kids.  Free coffee for the adults…of course hubby had to have some, when he saw it was from starbucks lol.  I found a few items, but overall it was just fun….and spending some time with hubby was nice too. :)

Looks like it’s going to be an indoor weekend.  Heavy rains are coming tonight, and it will be a wet weekend.  We still haven’t played the new game we bought for christmas yet.  It’s called Uno deluxe…I used to love that game years ago.  This is the new version.  Time to break it open an play.  Have a good weekend!!

EASTER SO SOON :)

I put out my Easter decorations the other day, when I realized how early it is this year.  It’s almost eerie being this early lol.   They say it won’t happen again for another 200 plus years..  That suits me just fine! lol…..I  like easter in April when the weather is a bit more springish.

I remember when I was a little girl, how much I loved Easter.  My mother always bought me a new dress, shiney shoes, and a hat. Everyone at church was dressed up in their Easter attire.  We would get up early and have breakfast at our family church.  They had eggs, bacon, muffins, etc…it was a great time.  Then we had service at 9:00 am  and after church we had an ham dinner at noon.  I always got a gift of some sort…a cross necklace one year, and a bible another.  Of course, I always got a chocolate bunny.  Today, not many people dress up like we did in the 1960’s, and I miss that.  It takes the specialness out of the day (for me anyways) :)   I miss the good ole days sometimes…

I was so tempted to hang the clothes out12_5_9.gif on the line today, but it only got up to 46 degrees.  It felt so warm, and the birds were singing this morning.  I refrained, although I am so anxious to start spending some time out in the yard.

I heard this morning that the gas prices could go up to $4.00 a gallon by May.  Geesh, families are having to pinch pennies now to get by…and that will  hinder many  outings, and road trips that normally families would take.  Boy, do we need a change in this country.  I remember when I was about 12 years old my father having to get gas on a certain day.  I think it was odd …even, during the recession.  I just have to believe that “Better Days Are Coming”.  :) bunny9.gif

Have a great day!

DON’T BLINK!

I can’t believe we are already  in the 3rd month of the New Year.  It just makes me realize how fast that time does fly!  It seems that the older I get, the faster it goes, but yet there is still 24 hours in a day.  So, how can it be?? lol

I have always been the kind of person who treasures the little things in life.  I tend to notice the small things,  that maybe others in the busyness of life miss.  I might see the small dew drop on a leaf, or the shape of a cloud etc….you get the picture lol.   I learned to live one day at time.  After my dad died at age 49, it made me realize just how short life can be.  I try to live in the moment and not wish time away.

All I have to do is just look at my daughter, and see how time has flown!!   Where did the years go?  I had a friend who used to tell me, when my daughter was 2 yrs old, to enjoy her because they grow up fast.  Her daughter at the time was 16, so she knew from experience.   I always remembered her words as my daughter was growing up, and loved all the stages that my daughter went through.  Ok Ok, I’d be lying if I say ALL…the tantrum stage….Didn’t love so much lol.

It’s raining now…I just love the sound of the rain on the window.  Call me crazy, but I love the rainy days as much as I enjoy a beautiful sunny days.  I welcome them all.  :)

I am putting a Kenny Chesney song here that has lyrics that talk about how fast 100 years go by.  Hope you enjoy it!  Just listen to the words and then….. Take time and smell the Roses!!!  Or the coffee….Tracy :) :)

FEATHERED FRIEND

 MEET EMERIL!!!!

emmm2221.jpg

emeril.jpg

Today I thought I would introduce you to my feathered friend, aka “MY BABY”. :)   He was originally bought for my husband as a birthday gift.   My husband named him Emeril, because he loves Emeril Lagasse!  I had a hard time with calling him that name, but it just suits him now.  He is a green-cheeked conure and they can be very nippy at times. When he was a baby he bit my husband’s ear and after that he has been kind of nervous with him, sitting on him lol.

Being that I am home more than the rest of the family, he has become my best buddy.  He will sit on my shoulder and just go with me as I do housework.   They love being with people and love attention!  He is a little ham, and I have come to love him as if he were one of my “kids”.  I know animal lovers will understand that. :)

We have had him from 2 months old, and he is now 4 years old.  He is so comical, because he will use my husband to get to me.  If it will get him out of the cage, then he will get up on my husband.  Otherwise, he will bite at him when he even tries to get near his cage and change his water.  Conures will get attached to one person in a family, although they love everyone.  You could say they have a favorite lol.

They are a small version of a parrot.   He talks, maybe 7 words or so….”Hello Baby”…..”Daddy Jo”…..”I love you”…”night night”….and a few others.  I am amazed at the intelligence of these birds.  He knows how to associate words and knows what they mean.  Not just repeating them because we say them.  If I say do you want a bath and he doesn’t want one…..he will go running the other way.  lol  Other times when I say it, and he’s in the mood, he will run towards the water and jump in.  lol  He has brought alot of joy into our lives, entertains us, loves us, and is just part of our family now.  :)

More Fluffy, White Stuff!

clipw0025.gif

The weathermen are predicting 3 to 5 inches of snow, starting about 10 o’clock tonight.  Winter does not want to let go this year.  I love snow when it is freshly fallen, but it loses its appeal after it gets brown and dirty from all the cars.  I must confess though, I do like that homey feeling when its snowing and I get my hot chocolate and am all warm and cozy in my jammies LOL.

My daughter came back from the doctors and she has chronic bronchitis and she has 3 prescriptions to have filled.  They have her out of work until Tuesday.  Thank goodness she has a good boss and has paid sick time.  I remember the days when I worked and we didn’t get paid when we were out.  A day out was a day of lost wages.  I feel bad for people who can’t afford to stay home and take care of themselves and get better.

It seems everyone you talk to is sick or has been recently.  There is more than one strain going around.  My daughter got both of them within two weeks time.  Poor thing is prone to bronchitis and it makes it hard because she has the type of job where she is on the phone talking all day.  Yesterday, she tried to go back to work and customers were so rude to her and got snippy….telling her they couldn’t understand her.  People are just so patient and kind….(yes that was a bit of sarcasm lol)  People in these days are so heartless, and selfish…of course I am not referring to all …..but the Lord did say in the last days people would be lovers of themselves.  Boy O’ Boy, he wasn’t lying~ lol

I guess I’ll go see what we are doing for supper tonight….Pizza sounds good :)     signoff.gif

Have a good night,

Spring where are you?

I saw a robin a few days ago in a tree outside my bedroom window. She was so fat, that she must of been looking for a place to lay her eggs.  My first thought was, “Ahhhh spring is almost here.”  Then I remembered that it is still February.  I am starting to get  ”Itchy” for spring!!!!

I don’t want to get to excited just yet, as we had a light covering of snow last night :(   I am getting a bad case of spring fever about now lol.  I love winter, but when I’ve had enough of it, I just want to  spring forward! haha   I know, I know that was corny lol :)

I wasn’t too happy with my daughter’s cat today…as I was making the bed I noticed a slice in the material on my NEW comforter (gasp).  It was from his back toenails which was clipped a few weeks ago.  So, now he is banned from sleeping on my bed.  This isn’t the first time he has ruined a bedspread on me.   Somehow, he never seems to ruin his “Mothers” (which is my daughter lol) things.  So, needless to say I am not feeling the “warm fuzzies” when I see him today. lol  My daughter gave me a saying that was on her mini calendar from work the other day that says…..”He swings from the chandelier, he paws my peanut butter, and he knocks over my drink in the most unfortunate places in the house—but I still love him like crazy.  It’s like a hairball in my heart.”     He sure is a hairball to me today, just not too sure its in my heart lol

How not to answer the phone…:)

Hi!  Glad you’ve found me :)   As my about me section says, I am generally a happy  (I use the term loosely today)  person.     I was not having a good day when I had to run out to pick my daughter up from work 2 hours after just dropping her off. I had just heated up my lunch in  the microwave when  the phone rang.  She’s been really sick, so I knew I had to go get her. I tell her…. Ok, I’ll be there in 10 minutes.  My lunch has been overheated and is now dried out and cold again.

I get to her work and sit there for 10 minutes waiting for her, I am getting very agitated that she isn’t outside waiting for me.  I call her cell 5 times consecutively and still she is not answering yet.  What is she doing???? I am getting more irritated and my cell phone rings and I ASSUME (know what they say about that? lol)  that it is her… Soooo, I answer the phone with a loud, irritated tone and say, “I am waiting out here!”  Only to find its not my daughter calling me!  It’s a woman who I have not talked to in a long time..She says excuse me? Talk about embarrassed!   I had a case of foot in mouth disease!  The moral of the story is this, we should always talk to our family with the same kindness and patience we would a stranger!   God is always showing us where we need more work.  Sure glad He doesn’t give up on us! :)
